Tamworth with a population of around 35,000 people is a small city located in the New England area of New South Wales. Due to its hugely popular and successful country music festival held every January, Tamworth has become the country music capital of Australia. During this ten day event, the town doubles in size with people coming to see the hundreds of country music shows and events happening in and around the city. Accommodation is scarce during the festival unless you have booked well in advance, but at other times during the year there are several caravan parks and backpacker hostels to accommodate you. |
