Stanthorpe, with a population of around 10,000, is a charming and pretty town and has a cooler climate to nearby coastal areas. The town is surrounded by rich, mixed farming areas, that range from vineyards, wineries and orchards to cattle and sheep grazing. Because if its location close to orchards and vineyards, there is plenty of casual work available picking fruit at certain times of the year.
