backpacking murwillumbah
Murwillumbah is halfway between Byron Bay and Tweed Heads and lies on the west bank of the Tweed River. It is mainly a service town for the large sugar and banana growing farming areas that surround the town. The town is also a great base to access five world heritage listed national parks, including; Nightcap, Border Ranges, Lamington, Mt Warning and Springbrook. It is also within easy reach of the extinct volcano of Mount Warning. Here you can undertake the Summit Track; an 8.8km round trip to the summit of Mount Warning, where you will be rewarded with spectacular 360 degree panoramic views of the coast and the beautiful countryside that surrounds the mountain.
