Located 439 km south east of Adelaide, Mount Gambier, population 22,000, sits on the slopes of an extinct volcano. The town is characterised by a large number of attractive, historic buildings and the major attraction of Blue Lake. Blue lake is about 85m deep (in the deepest section) and there is a 5km scenic drive around it. You can also go and tour the Englebrecht Caves a huge complex of limestone caves under the city.
