The Mornington Peninsula is
located approximately one hour south of Melbourne and has
long been a holiday playground for Melbourne with the Port
Phillip Bay
beaches of Mornington, Mt Martha, Safety
Beach, Rosebud, Rye & Sorrento and the rugged ocean surf beaches along
its west coast of St Andrews Beach, Shoreham, Pt Leo and
Balnarring.

Of all the resort towns dotted along the
Mornington Peninsula, Portsea and Sorrento are probably the
most popular.
Sorrento really comes to life in the summer months, as it offers surrounding bay and surf beaches, and a casual relaxed atmosphere
with its many cafes and Village shopping. It is also a great base to explore some of the spectacular scenery
of the Mornington Peninsula National Park. Activities abound
with beach horse rides, sea kayaking, surfing, snorkelling,
dolphin and seal swims, wine tasting and some Australia's
finest golf courses. On the bay side of the Peninsula is a
bike trail that meanders through the foreshore reserve.
You can access the Mornington Peninsula via Frankston or by
ferry to Sorrento from Queenscliff on the
Bellarine Peninsula. |
