backpacking Margaret River
The town of Margaret River is nestled between vineyards and towering jarrah and karri forest. It is a small town with a population of around 2,000 people. It has an easygoing community that consists mainly of surfers, winemakers, artists and people who enjoy an alternative lifestyle. Margaret River is well known for its great surfing beaches and hosts the Margaret River Surf Classic in March. The town is a good base to explore the surrounding wineries, with some of Australia’s most famous located there, such as Leeuwin Estate and Treeton Estate.
