backpacking Lancelin

This tiny fishing village is situated 120km north of Perth and is generally considered to have the best windsurfing in Australia. The best time of the year for this is October through to March and the rest of the year the quiet waters are ideal for swimming. There is also an offshore reef, which provides for good surfing conditions and also some great diving and snorkelling. There are also ship wrecks in the area for experienced scuba divers to explore. Surrounding the town are expansive dunes, which are a great place to use sand boards, dune buggies, motorbikes and four wheel drives. There is also an abundance of marine life in the area. On Lancelin Island you can see the local population of sea lions and in the bay you will be able to watch the many local dolphins. The town is also the coastal link to the Pinnacles Desert which is part of the Nambung National Park.
