This tourist town, population 5,250, is also Victoria’s largest fishing port. It is the major commercial town in the Gippsland Lakes region and provides a good place to stay while exploring the Lakes district. The region is a collection of saltwater lakes and small wilderness islands, and is very popular in the summer months with tourists. A short distance from town, is the famed Ninety Mile Beach that borders the Lakes district and is a popular surf beach. |
