backpacking Kalbarri
The town of Kalbarri, population 1800, is pretty much dwarfed by the 1000 square km's of the Kalbarri National Park that surrounds it. This is a popular spot with backpackers, as there are literally miles of unspoiled and uninhabited coastline, as well as the national park to explore.

The Kalbarri National Park has an amazing display of wildflowers in spring, two impressive gorges, as well as a number of walking trails and organised tours.

In addition, Kalbarri has a history of Dutch shipwrecks in the area. Artefacts from these shipwrecks have been raised and exhibited in the Geraldton museum. Other activities in the region include; rock climbing, canoeing, sunset horse rides, visits to authentic outback stations and offshore islands to go diving at.
