and how to get to and from Fraser Island

The world’s largest sand island was listed on the World Heritage list in 1993. Fraser Island is a smorgasbord of native flora and fauna and remains relatively unspoiled despite the increasing number of tourists who visit it each year. The island is 120km long and 15km wide. |

The whole northern end is protected as the Great Sandy National Park. The island caters to all nature activities, from bushwalking to swimming and fishing. Wild horses and Dingos populate the island and spectacular natural freshwater suspended lakes are scattered throughout the island. |
|
You can camp on Fraser Island or stay in resort style accommodation. The island is sparsely populated, and there are no sealed roads, only dirt tracks, so four wheel drives are the only mode of transport. The Main access points to the island are Rainbow Beach at the southern tip, and Hervey Bay at the north-western side. |
