The town of Cooma has a population just over 7,000. It is located on the eastern edge of the Snowy Mountains region and was the construction centre for the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme. Cooma is only an hours drive from the ski slopes, and because of its close location, becomes a popular and busy destination in the winter months. |

In the summer, spring and autumn months the town attracts many backpackers, who find work harvesting fruit and vegetables in nearby agricultural areas. Wadbilliga National Park is also nearby, here you can explore some of the rugged mountain ranges, deep river valleys, pockets of rainforest and wide plateau's. |
