backpacking Coffs Harbour
The city of Coffs Harbour has a population of around 58,000. It has a subtropical climate and is situated in a beautiful location where the surrounding mountains approach the sea. It is well known for the large banana growing areas that surround the city. It is also a mecca for those wanting to partake in some adrenalin activates; such as white-water rafting and kayaking in the Nymboida and Goolang Rivers and Bongil Bongil National Park, diving in the nationally recognised marine park of the Solitary Islands, four wheel driving through the surrounding magnificent countryside and surf rafting and sea kayaking at Diggers Beach.

It is also a great place for surfing with some stunning beaches located right at the city edge. If you want some less strenuous activities, you could do some fishing, or you could try and do some whale spotting during their migrating months.

Nearby the city is the Bindarri National Park, here you will find spectacular waterfalls, rainforests and amazing views.

You could also discover the wonders of World Heritage listed rainforest areas including Dorrigo National Park. Here you will find great walking and birdwatching tracks which meander their way through lush sub-tropical rainforest and waterfalls. Picnic with the brush turkeys at The Glade or visit the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre or the Canopy Cafe.
