This small coastal town has massive tourist appeal and is one of the main places backpackers visit when they come to Australia. Byron Bay is famous for its culture clash atmosphere. Here you will find retirees, surfers, alternative life-stylers, backpackers, families and business people, all rubbing shoulders and getting along.

There is a lot packed into this town; good music venues at the three main pubs, great restaurants and cafes, a wide diversity of alternative therapies, great shopping and of course, the superb beaches. You can choose to partake in many adventure activities, such as diving, surfing and hang gliding to name a few. Alternatively, the lush hinterland provides a great escape from the seaside activities. Byron Bay is Australia's most easterly point and is home to one of the world's most powerful lighthouses. The bay is an excellent site to see whales on their northern and southern migrations and dolphins all year round.
