Situated very close to the mainland of Tasmania, Bruny Island was often mistaken as part of the mainland by early seafarers. There is some amazing coastal scenery on the island accompanied by some excellent swimming and fishing beaches.

Bruny Island is a great place to see wildlife, as it is a haven for native birds, fairy penguins and many reptile species. Tourism has become an integral part of the island’s economy, although major development has not taken off.
