The discovery of gold at Ravenswood in 1851 brought thousands of diggers to the Bendigo diggings. Due to the fantastic wealth mined from the region, mining companies poured a lot of money into building works in the town and today many fine examples of Victorian buildings still stand. You can also discover the city's golden heritage at the restored Central Deborah gold mine. |
