Traditionally a tourist haven for the well healed from the cities, Batemans Bay is also a popular tourist destination for the budget traveller and caters quite well to this end of the market. Batemans Bay is a fishing port by trade, but tourism now plays a big part in the local economy. There are good surf beaches north and south of the town and 10km south is the small arts and craft town of Mogo.

Eurobodalla National Park is approximately 20km south of Bateman's Bay. Here you can find some picturesque lakes, aboriginal sites, wildlife and great scenery. Activities suitable in the park include, swimming, bushwalking, birdwatching, surfing, canoeing, water skiing and scuba diving. Murramarong National Park is also nearby. This park offers great scenery, beautiful beaches and amazing wildlife. Activities that can be undertaken here include, swimming, surfing, fishing and bushwalking. |
