backpacking Ballina
Ballina lies on the north coast of New South Wales and has a population of around 17,000. This beach town is a thriving retirement centre and a quiet alternative to the happening and busy nearby town of Byron Bay. The town sits at the mouth of the Richmond River, where you can sail or partake in some good fishing. There are also some great surfing beaches located along the coastline of the town. Some of these can be relatively uncrowded, offering surfers a great chance to get some good waves. Other activities available, include; dolphin watching, cycling and swimming.
