The city of Brisbane has a population of 1.5 million people and is Australia’s third largest city. It manages to retain a relaxed country feel devoid of the hustle and bustle of Sydney and Melbourne. After hosting the 1982 Commonwealth Games and the 1988 World Expo, Brisbane had made its mark on the national and international scene. Although it is located close to the coast, Brisbane is very much a river city.

Brisbane has a cosmopolitan feel with a good street cafe scene, a busy cultural calendar and a great climate. It is also centrally located between the tourist havens of the Sunshine Coast to the north and the Gold Coast to the south and two beautiful large sand islands located directly off the coast in front of the city – North Stradbroke and Moreton Island's.
